Due to the remote location, there is no 'public transport' service all the way to Piha... For direct service from Auckland City or Auckland Airport to Piha you will need to organise private transport such as a shuttle, taxi or uber. (See below for info)
You can take public transport closer to Piha. The closest train stations to Piha are Henderson and Glen Eden stations- from here you could call a taxi or hitchhike as it is about 30 minutes drive.

4. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus/Train
There is no public transport from Auckland Airport or Auckland City all the way to Piha.
You can take public transport closer to Piha and then take a taxi, uber or hitchhike. The closest train stations to Piha are Henderson and Glen Eden.
Firstly, from the Airport, you will need to get to Britomart Station in Auckland CBD, and from there to Piha
(i) Auckland Airport to Auckland City-
SkyBus is Auckland’s airport transfer service to Auckland City operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
(ii) Auckland CBD to Henderson/Glen Eden train stations, and then to Piha -
From there you'll need a ride from a friend! :-) or catch a taxi to Piha. Expect to pay $30 - $50 for up to 4 people in a taxi from Henderson to Piha
5. RENTAL CARS:
Renting a car is a great way to see New Zealand as the public transport is not the best at getting you to those remote locations.
Cost is approximately $25 - $35 per day.
