GETTING HERE

Due to the remote location, there is no 'public transport' all the way to Piha...

​

For a direct service from Auckland City or Auckland Airport to Piha, you will need to organise private transport such as a shuttle, taxi or uber. (See below for info)

​

You can take public transport closer to Piha. The nearest train stations to Piha are Henderson Station and Glen Eden station- from here you could use a taxi or Uber or hitchhike as it is about 30 minutes drive

1. IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN VEHICLE

​

Please see our recommended route from Auckland City on Google Maps.

It is a 45min drive from Auckland CBD and 60mins from Auckland Airport.

​

 

2. UBER/Independent Taxi

Use the app or you can contact these Uber drivers directly who have said they wish to service Piha:

​Generally, there is no Uber available from Piha, so perhaps get the contact details from your driver that drops you off.

  • Auckland City to Piha: Expect to pay between $100 - $120 for up to 4 people.

  • Henderson/New Lynn/Glen Eden train stations to Piha: $65 - $85

4. RENTAL CARS:

 

Renting a car or campervan is a great way to see New Zealand as the public transport is not the best at getting you to those remote locations.

5. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus/Train - from Auckland Airport and Auckland City Central to Piha 

​

NOTE: There is no public transport all the way to Piha.

You can take public transport closer to Piha and then from the train station you'll need to catch a taxi or Uber or hitchhike to Piha.

The closest train stations to Piha are Henderson and Glen Eden

They are both similar distance from Piha. Henderson has Westcity Mall for shopping whereas Glen Eden has limited stores.

From the Airport,  you will need to get to Britomart Station in Auckland CBD, and from there to Piha

​

(i) Auckland Airport to Auckland City-

The AirportLink bus will take you to Puhinui Station, where you can travel anywhere on the AT network.
